At Boston Soap Co., we’re proud to say it: we make real Massachusetts soap.
Not “designed in Massachusetts.”
Not “shipped from Massachusetts.”
Actually made here—crafted by hand in East Boston with ingredients grown right here in our state. We don’t outsource production, and we don’t rely on mass-produced bases. Every bar we sell is cold process soap, made from scratch the traditional way, right here in Massachusetts.
What Is Massachusetts Soap?
When we say “Massachusetts soap,” we mean it. We render our own tallow and lard from local farms, use raw honey from Massachusetts beekeepers, and work with local dairies for goat milk in our best-selling Honey Milkies bar. Over 96% of the ingredients in that soap are grown or raised in Massachusetts.
This isn’t just a gimmick—it’s about quality, sustainability, and transparency. We believe in keeping things local, supporting our neighbors, and honoring the craftsmanship that New England is known for.
Why Choose Local Soap?
If you’ve ever picked up a bar of “handmade soap” and noticed it smelled like a dollar store candle or melted away after three showers, that’s probably because it was made from a cheap melt-and-pour base, often imported and repackaged.
Our bars aren’t like that.
Boston Soap Co. uses time-tested cold process methods to create soaps that last, lather, and nourish. Each recipe is carefully formulated with real oils, butters, and fats—like olive oil, coconut oil, RSPO-certified palm oil, shea butter, and castor oil. No shortcuts. No fluff.
Supporting Massachusetts Businesses
When you shop with us, you’re not just buying a bar of soap—you’re supporting multiple Massachusetts farms and small businesses. From suet rendered in-house to lavender grown in-state, we’re building a soap supply chain that’s local from start to finish.
We’re also proud to sell our soaps at Massachusetts farm stores, boutiques, and gift shops. Whether you’re in Boston, the Berkshires, or the Cape, you might find Honey Milkies on a shelf near you.
Why Boston Soap Co.?
We’re a small batch soap company that actually makes what we sell. That shouldn’t be rare—but it is.
If you're looking for handmade Massachusetts soap made with integrity, skill, and ingredients you can trace, you’re in the right place. Our soaps are good for your skin, good for the planet, and good for our local economy.
